My family and I were common Cape Cod home owners with a primary residence in a Boston suburb and a summer-weekend house on the Cape.   We built our Cape Cod house on Buck's Pond in Harwich in 1981 and became full-time Harwich residents in 1997.   I love lake-side living, but am compelled to see the ocean every day—especially sun rise at the Chatham Light.  With many eclectic tastes I’m never bored on Cape Cod—even in the dead of winter.

Like almost all real estate agents, I had a prior professional life.  With a degree in Math from Boston College I started a career in software engineering that lasted more than 30 years.  Highlights included: being a telecommuter and e-mail user in the early 70’s, publisher of Software Quality World magazine, giving training seminars throughout the U.S. and Europe, VP of Customer Service, VP at Fidelity Investments, and management consulting at the New York Stock Exchange, M.I.T., and HP.

Not a typical background for a real estate agent, BUT, actually quite useful.  To manage, consult, and train you have to love working with people—a key to the real estate business.  Still proud to be a computer geek (although I prefer Austin to Asimov) these skills are a great advantage at a time of exploding real estate computer technology.  And project management skills (successful $50,000,000 projects with scores of people) are critical in the all-important second half of the real estate process—getting from a signed offer all the way to closing.
